Under 11 white
Very good game. Both sides took there chances. In the first half we made a couple of defensive errors which Hunter took advantage of. In the second half our team pressured most of the half but could not score. Very happy with our first up effort.
Under 11 Blue
A very good competitive game. A couple of well taken goals, already you can see the boys are trying to play football. Supporting one another and having fun. Keep up the good work.
Who on the 4th December at the Macquarie Annual General Meeting was given Life Membership for his years and years of dedication to football and the dedication to youth development in our Zone.
It's good to see the kids just playing footy. Some of the tricks and dribbling they are trying is great to see. This is the game related training that we encourage, it allows the players to express themselves without the added burden of a coach yelling out instructions.
A couple of teams who were undefeated had some close calls but in the end it's all about having fun. Thanks also to those boys who filled in for the teams that were short.

To the parents, thanks for your patients in the first two weeks.
After all the admin work was over we got down to playing footy. This week we had some very close and competitive games. Again it was great to see the boys passing and moving, getting into better positions to receive the ball. I hope you are all enjoying the way it is going.
Let's also mention our referees, these young boys are giving up their spare time to do this, we all appreciate the effort.
Our first session of The Macquarie Summer Games started Monday 12th,Spectators witnessed some very good football played. You could see the enthusiasm in all the players. All they wanted to do is play footy.
The main aim of putting these summer games on is to let the players play more football. The small sided game, to express themselves, to show the coaching staff what they have learnt throughout the year. Our coaches have been instructed to coach on the run ( let the kids play ) The ru...

just bringing you up to date with our Under 11 games. We are very pleased with our results. Especially our white team. They are playing some very good football. It's good to see all our teams trying to control and work the ball into a better position. Also the way our Stripe team played last weekend has finally put a smile on the coaches dial.
Up coming events include a 6 day trip to Tasmania in September, the team has been selected and all players are looking forward to the trip.
hi all busy weekend .played saturday and sunday. saturdays game first.played some good football at times but once again went to sleep in the final ten minutes. once again our back 3 done well but our keeper needs to come off his line more.sundays game was a different storey with the boys competeing for the whole game which made a huge difference. our keeper came off his line more and took a lot of pressure off our back 3 and overall had a solid game. regards stephan .coach

Our game this Saturday is against Hamilton under 15’s. The loss last week gave us a reminder that when playing the 4-3-3 system having three forward player’s and only three midfielders, means that organised “pressing high” is needed to stop or slow down the opposition from playing out of their own half.
Congratulations to our keeper Riley for his fine penalty save last week and his great progress with playing out from the back

The boys struggled a bit on a very cold and windy day at turner park. they defended well but still find it difficult to play out and find a team mate.we still have to keep working at it and with a bit of confidence it will happen .once again our keeper was solid .

This Saturday our boys take on South Cardiff under 15’s. The win last week to Hunter under 14 SYL was a nice display of patient and composed playing out from the back particularly from our goal keeper and was a reward for our boys who had spent weeks on this at training.
This week we have been working on the speed of transitioning from the moment when the ball is lost to when we win it back.
At 4-0 up we had to continue the pressure, to let them get 2 back in the dying minutes was the only down side to the performance. We hope Scott’s knee improves. 4 games this week in 7 days will be a big test.
the boys played well today on a cold and windy day. the players who played in the back three defended well today and kept their shape.a special mention to our keeper who filled in for our regular keeper who played for our u 12 side.
This Saturday our boys take on Hunter under 14 SYL. The game should be a welcome relief for the boys who have had to battle hard in the last two weeks against top of the table Under 15 teams Charlestown and Magic who overpowered us with their extra size, strength and speed.
The game against Hunter under 14 SYL is an opportunity for the boys to relax and express their skills and tactical understanding without feeling so physically intimidated.
After a very good weeks training the boys were switched on to play. Our boys played well from the start, we pressed up front and compressed from the back. We kept our shape most of the game. These boys are starting to believe in themselves. They are starting to play some good football. Special mentioned to Chocky on a very good game.
Well done to Kobie (Right) and Corinne (Left) who were selected for the All Stars Squad alongside the finest under 13 female footballers following the three day FFA National championships in which they played for NNSWF.
Both Kobie and Corinne have come through Macquarie Academy to be selected into NNSWF Squad and through their efforts at Nationals they have the honour of being selected into the All Stars Squad at the National Championships in Canberra.
Just around the corner is our U8 Gala Day 17 June and our holiday clinic for 8’s and 9’s from Monday 9th of July – Thursday 12th of July. The gala day will be for all Under 8 teams in our zone. more information will be sent to clubs shortly.

The Under 11 stripes played a lot better this week with a lot more talk during the game and looking to pass the ball around. the team needs to work on using the width of the park more.
A good contest played in great spirit. It was very pleasing to see both teams go over to their parents as a group and clap them after the game. The blue team showed character and gave their all.

Because of the draw, this game was against our White team. I was very pleased with the outcome. both teams tried to play football. Both teams tried to pass the ball and create chances by moving into a position to go forward. Both teams kept there shape, in attack and defense. It was also pleasing to hear voices of encouragement from our coaching staff. Well done to both teams.
hi the boys tried hard once again and did the best they could against a good side .our keeper made some great saves . our number 6 worked hard in defence along with the number 4 .keep working hard boys. regards stephan coach

The U13’s State titles held in Newcastle from the 11th -14th of April was a great experience for the Macquarie boys. Many new players to the Academy this year had their 1st taste of tournament football. To play two games a day over this period requires a huge physical and mental effort .
The teams overall improvement was the highlight for me, hopefully this will be transformed into their weekly competition over the coming weeks.
Thanks to Brad, Tryphena and Jason for their contribution
This Sunday our boys take on the Weston Under 15 team.
The win last week against Newcastle Under 14 SYL was a credit to the boys self-belief and discipline. After scoring first, and then later going behind, the boys patiently maintained their possession based football.Part of the aim of this style of football is to fatigue the opposition and the boys were able to go back in front toward the end of the game.
Training this week has been focused on creating scoring opportunities by “thir...

Hi, Macquarie Whites verses Newcastle, The Game commenced at a very fast pace with Macquarie holding our own with their passing game. Newcastle had very explosive strikers and they scored early on in the match to make it 1-0. Macquarie white always regroup and play beautiful football, we had a couple away for this match so our defence was weakend by this.Newcastle are also very physical side and the boys held their own in that regard as well. The final score was 3-0 but this was no indication ...
The boys started off by playing some good football. All we practiced was starting to come together, players starting to look for support etc. Good points were noticed. Good team goals were scored. Mid second half our game plan fell apart. "Footy Tip" Don't forget to check your gear bag before leaving home. See you at training.

It was a hot day at Turner Park Cessnock when the boys took to the field at 1.30pm. The first half they displayed awareness and control and managed to go a goal up. Passing and movement were good in parts, especially against some strong physical challenges.
In football the saying is "its a game of two halves", how true. I think the referee thought we were playing footy in the second half and so the challenges kept coming and coming. This caused confusion and a loss of control from the majori...

The boys last game was against the 13s girls. We held posession extremely well again for the majority of the game with only a few lapses in concentration and composure. This is something we need to work on throughout the season and should improve. We also failed to put the ball in the back of the net more than once and really should have won the game. This Saturday our boys take on the Newcastle under 14 SYL team.
The draw last week to Valentine under 15 boys highlighted that our up tempo “possession” based football and our “ball orientated” defending requires an aggressive mental approach to the game. The approach is that when in possession the ball is moved with controlled urgency and when lost there is immediate pressure on the ball. The boys started the game a little too passively but improved significantly in the second half...
Very well played by all. The exercises and drills we have practiced all came off in this game. The boys played some terrific football. maybe the only part was our strength of our passes. It was great to see our team pass then look for support. can't wait for next week. Great effort boys. Thanks goes to Sally for her skills of organizing our team prior to game.

Result 1-3 loss to Newcastle Mustangs. This was a game of lost opportunities where we had a majority of the possession and control of the game. Abit of ball watching saw quick counter attacksfrom Newcastle through the middle. Theplayers need to transfer what is learnt at training to game days.
